Questions You Should Be Asking Your Heating & Air Specialist

Hi, Bill with Cool Air Technologies. If you're going to be doing some home remodeling projects, heating and air replacement, you're bringing a contractor in, I've got a list of questions for you I think you should ask. One of the questions, the first and foremost question is, are they a licensed and bonded company?

How long have they been in business? The reason I would ask that is, are they going to be around in a few years if you need service on the equipment? Some of the other questions I would ask, is the work done by the contractor's employees or does he subcontract the work? I mean, I want to know that his employees are going to be doing the work.

I also want to know if he's got a referral list so I can check on some of his previous jobs. One of the other questions I would ask is the warranty on the equipment and the labor and what is going to be done to your home. If you're getting a heat and air system installed, you don't have heat and air now, you want to know exactly what's going to be done to your house.

How long is the job going to take? Is the job going to be one day, two days? Is this a two week project? Those are some very important questions I would ask any contractor doing any work for you. Can I Add Air Conditioning To My Existing Heating System?

Hey, guys. Bill with Cool Air Technologies. One of the questions I get asked real frequently would be, "Can I add air to my system and use my same furnace?"

I would tell you, typically, a 10 year old furnace or older, you're going to want to change your furnace, due to the fan speed, not being compatible with the new high efficiency air conditioners.

If we have a furnace that's under ten years, I'd be more than happy to come out and give you a free estimate and let you know if it's compatible with the new air conditioning systems. Why Do You Need To View My Property To Give Me An Estimate?

Hi, Bill again with Cool Air Technologies. One of our other frequently asked questions would be: "Why do you have to come out to my house to give me a bid?"

Well the answer would be: "We've got lots of variables." Before adding air conditioning, I want to see - among other things - how the furnace is gonna fit in the closet with the vent pipe. Gas flax. I also, if we're doing the air conditioning, I want to see the electrical panel. See how the application for that house installation is gonna be.

Which side of the house we're gonna be on. The ideal thing is I want to give you a firm quote. I don't want to guess at what the price is gonna be and surprise you when I get there to give a firm bid. I would rather let you know exactly what it's gonna cost you, exactly what it's gonna be done to your house at the time of the installation, so you don't have any surprises and you are aware of what's going to happen.

It's something that we would want to come out and give tune ups on, possibly to quiet it down. It could be low on freon, there are a few variables but it's something that needs to be assessed by a technician.

What Are The Cost Associated When Replacing My A/C Unit?

Hi. Bill with Cool Air Technologies. One of our frequently asked questions would be, How much will it cost to change my air conditioning in my house? That answer would be, if we... there's too many variables to just be able to pat answer say what it's gonna cost. We've got to take quite a few factors into account.

If the refrigeration line size is too small, then those need to be changed. The electrical on the new equipment is a little bit different than what the old equipment used to be, the duct work in the house, if you've had your windows replaced, square footage in the home...It's something that for a proper bid, to give a proper, I mean, to give a proper answer I would wanna come see your house and be able to lay out an exact bid so you have it in writing.
